The SafetyKit(tm) List
Warning: The following list, of safety items
for BDSM play, does not claim to be exhaustive
and intends to act as a general starting point
for your personal kit. Please investigate which
safety items are needed for a specific BDSM activity
that is intended to be engaged in.
1. Condoms Spermicidal and non lubed/spermicidal
Uses: Covering dildoes, birth control, safer intercourse,
oral sex(non lube/spermicidal)
2. Alcohol Pads
Uses: Temporary play piercings, cuttings, accidental
cuts/abrasions, toy cleaning(on a lesser scale)
3. Latex/Nitrile/Other Gloves and/or finger
cots
Uses: Fisting, anal finger play, blood play, switching
between anal and vaginal play
4. Dental Dam
Uses: Vaginal and anal oral sex
5. Safety(paramedic) scissors
Uses: Mummification, cutting of rope/leather/material
restraints, cutting of clothing worn on the body
6. Bandaids and general first aid kit
Uses: Cuts, bruises
7. Alcohol
Uses: same as alcohol pads; however, on a larger
scale
8. Peroxide
Uses: Cleaning of toys, wounds
9. Arnica Gel(some people are allergic to
Arnica) or ice gel pack covered in cloth
Uses: Diminishes chances of bruising
10. Water
Uses: Fire play(wax, fire), rehydration
11. Panic Button
Uses: top passes out, emergency situation
12. Cell phone
Uses: portable for scenes not close to a phone,
for use when playing with a new partner
13. Safe call
Uses: When playing with a new partner
14. Safe words
Uses: in scene
15. Medication
Uses: medication for health purposes. For example:
heart medication, insulin, etc..
16. Candy/sugar/orange juice/juice
Uses: low blood sugar, re-energizing
17. Lubrication - water soluble
Uses: fisting, intercourse, anal and vaginal play
18. Sharp's container
Uses: temporary play piercing(needles, bloodied
pads), bio waste
19. Tweezers
Uses: Splinters from caning, switches, loosening
knots
20. Cotton swabs
Uses: first aid
21. Panic snaps
Uses: Flagellation(St. Andrew's cross), suspension
22. Emergency contact numbers/addresses
Uses: for emergencies.. Locate directions of nearest
hospital
23. Headache medication
Uses: headaches (please note: if used when play
piercing it will thin blood and create more blood
flow when needles are removed)
24. Paper Towels
Uses: clean up of blood, excretions
25. A compact blanket
Uses: to cover bottom/submissive after play; aids
in diminishing shock; helps enhance emotional
feelings of warmth and safety.
26. Bolt cutters
Uses: metal play(handcuffs, chain)
27. Extra keys
Uses: Extra keys for the same lock and kept separately;
universal lock for handcuffs.
28. First aid and CPR Certificate
Users: Emergency first aid and CPR.
